About Me

Hello,

I’m Lisa Mardell, a professional horse photographer specialising in creating exquisite equine portraiture.

I have a deep love and affinity for horses, having started riding as a child and owned horses for most of my life. I live in Surrey and own two beautiful geldings – Louis, a Lusitano, and Casper, an Appaloosa - who both inspire my equine photography.

Equine photography is a specialised form of art requiring a lot of skill, understanding and patience. This has been my passion for the last 12 years and this experience has given me the ability to create beautiful, timeless portraits of your horse or pony in a creative and imaginative way. Read more about why it's worth investing in a unique, artistic photographic study of your horse from Equus Photography here.

My work has been widely exhibited and has featured in both photographic and consumer magazines, as well as in brochures for Canon cameras. I've also worked as an equine photography tutor for a photography school in Wiltshire, and one of my fine art prints of the Horses from the Camargue won a Gold Award from the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain:

"A stunning example of action photography and one can almost envisage the horses bursting out from the print. The tight cropping of the image has enhanced the power and detail of the charging horses which when combined with the sharpness and splashing water has presented us with a truly memorable photograph." Sandy Cleland, FRPS, judge.

I’ve also been shortlisted for several other awards and hold an Associateship from the Royal Photographic Society. And although horses are the main focus of my professional work, I also enjoy photographing landscapes  in my spare time.

I offer fine art equine photography commissions across the UK, including horse and rider photography, and I also sell a small range of my horse photography - you can view the gallery here. So if you’d like to commission me to photograph your horse or would like to buy a limited edition fine art print then please do get in touch. I look forward to hearing from you.
